You might find yourself imagining what living in this artistic, efficiency-engineered home would be like. It is a place where you can sit in the hot tub at night and see the depths of the Milky Way. To the east you can see a hundred miles out on to the plains, and at night the lights of Fort Collins. Deer are regular visitors, with an occasional bear and sometimes elk coming to feed on the 25 acres which this property sits. For more outdoor exposure nearby, there is Horsetooth Park resvoir and Bobcat Ridge. Poudre river, Estes Park and Rocky mountain national park are all about 20 miles. The home is an off grid earth-sheltered home, or "Earthship" as sometimes called. It is designed for sustainability: Solar-powered, with storage batteries and automatic back up lp gas generator; a roof-top rainwater collector system; and solar tubes for heating water and hot tub. The only bills are rent and lp gas, landlord pays internet and trash collection service. Water is free and is a roof-top rainwater collection system with about 5000 gallon cistern and is budgeted to about 40 gallons /person/day or 120 per household/day. If it runs out then tenant must pay to have it delivered. Electric is solar powered and free, but limited. Tenant pays for any lp gas used. Road to property is 4 mile gravel and driveway is steep.
